On July 8th, 2025, former Chelsea manager and current Fenerbahce head coach Jose Mourinho emphasized once again that Chelsea are strong contenders to win this season’s FIFA Club World Cup.
During a brief interactive session, Mourinho pointed out that Chelsea rarely miss out on trophies once they reach the semi-final stage.
He stated, “It has been a historical fact that the Blues fight with a strong spirit, especially after coming this far. Looking at their present squad, many people did not expect the level of success these boys have already achieved.”
“They unbelievably won the UEFA Conference League and still secured a place in the Champions League. They are favourites to win any trophy once they reach the semi-finals, and the FIFA Club World Cup may not be an exception.”
Mourinho, who once managed Chelsea, noted that even top clubs still in the tournament—such as PSG and Real Madrid—would find it extremely difficult to overcome Chelsea if they were to meet in the final.
Meanwhile, some football analysts have tipped PSG to claim the title, while a few believe Real Madrid could eventually secure the trophy.
