A player who recently made the headlines has rejected an offer to join Chelsea and has picked Leicester City instead, per reports.

Things are super busy once again at Chelsea right now with the first of two summer transfer windows closing tomorrow night. The window will then open again on June 16th, and this is all so clubs can register new signings for the Club World Cup this month.

Chelsea have done just that as well, with the announcement of centre back Mamadou Sarr joining from Strasbourg on Monday morning – he will now head out to the CWC to play for Chelsea.

The big situation right now is Mike Maignan of AC Milan, with Chelsea wanting to sign him as well. But this one is dragging on as The Blues quibble about his valuation which, let’s be honest, is already very low. The player wants Chelsea though and is apparently determined to join.

Chelsea may not be the best breeding ground

Enzo Maresca did dish out a lot of debuts to academy players last season, but you do wonder about young players at the club and their chances of making it.

Chelsea not only have a world-class academy, but they also sign a lot of young rising stars, making the competition very fierce. Some players will prefer to stay at their lower league clubs.

Monga stays at Leicester

Jeremy Monga made headlines in March when he became the second-youngest player in Premier League history, aged just 15 years and 271 days, as reported by The Metro.

They go on to say that both Chelsea and Manchester City wanted to sign the player from Leicester City. However, he has chosen to stay there.

‘Jeremy Monga has committed to commencing his professional career as a Leicester City player, with an agreement now in place to secure the talented teenager’s future at King Power Stadium,’ the club said.

‘Jeremy will begin his Academy scholarship this summer with his first professional contract scheduled to commence in summer 2026.’
