Nottingham Forest have officially confirmed the appointment of Edu Gaspar as their new Global Head of Football.
Edu's move to Forest had long been anticipated, with widespread speculation linking him to club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
He gave his first remarks in the role on Monday as players returned for the start of pre-season training.
With Anthony Elanga reportedly nearing a move to Newcastle, Edu steps into his new position at a critical time as he begins laying the groundwork at the City Ground.
Following the announcement, Edu shared a message on Instagram that read: “New challenge, big responsibility and excitement. I’m proud of it.”
Felipe, a former fan favourite who played a key role in Forest's survival during the 2022/23 Premier League season, was quick to respond. He commented: “Top! Excellent human being!”
Fernando Morientes, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid and former Valencia teammate of Edu, also sent his support. He wrote: “The best,” followed by two heart emojis — showing the high regard Edu holds within football circles.
This appointment reinforces Marinakis’s ambition to solidify Forest’s position as a competitive Premier League side aiming for European qualification.
Edu arrives at the City Ground with a strong reputation and a wealth of experience from a similar position at Arsenal. He now faces the task of strengthening the squad with the new Premier League season just six weeks away.
