Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has received more than 1,230 former allies of Senator Abdulrahman Sumaila back into the NNPP.
This follows Senator Sumaila’s recent switch from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The returnees, members of the Waraka political group, hail from Albasu and Sumaila Local Government Areas in the Kano South Senatorial District.
According to reports, “Their return was formally announced during a political gathering held on Sunday, attended by key party stakeholders, community leaders, and enthusiastic supporters at Kwankwaso’s residence in Miller Road.”
In his address at the event, Senator Kwankwaso warmly welcomed the returning members, calling their comeback a meaningful move toward advancing politics grounded in strong principles and values.
He reaffirmed his dedication to politics centered on issues and ideas, which, he emphasized, is what sets the NNPP apart.
“I am always happy to receive people who believe in our movement, not because of financial incentives, but because of our collective vision for a better Nigeria,” Kwankwaso said.
